The Odyssee system adds a new dimension to film viewing enjoyment - the dimension of motion and movement. The Odyssee processor achieves this in two ways: firstly, by extracting information from the soundtrack and turning it into computer coded motion algorithms. Secondly, by interpretation of specially pre-encoded CD-ROM data which synchronises automatically with a DVD. These motion codes are then sent to four separate actuators which sit at all four corners of the required seating area, or the seating platform itself. The seating is thus supported at all four points (see diagram). Highly sophisticated programming applications send signals to micro processors located within each actuator.
The result is stunning! Whilst each actuator only moves a maximum of half an inch in height the sensation is like being in an amusement park simulator. Car chases, rocket lift offs, action movies all take on a dramatic new feeling - the feeling that you are actually in the film! You experience the same motional forces experienced by the actors and events that you're watching. |
